As the snow is suspected to reach over 45cm in the next couple days the RCMP are encouraging people to stay home.  With the amount of snow this is going to cause a lot of issues for people on their commutes.  According to the Calgary Police Service, from midnight to 8 a.m., there have been 27 collisions.

Number of accidents go up exponentially when the snow falls.

The city is working as hard as they can to get crews all over the city to plow as quick as possible.   The city does have a strategic plow plan to get the job done as quick as possible.
