NHL OPENING THE 2024/25 SEASON WITH 3 EXCITING MATCHUPS

The NHL fully starts the season today with 3 exciting matchups in North America after the New Jersey Devils swept the Buffalo Sabres in a two-game faceoff in Czechia over the weekend.

At 2:30 pm, the Seattle Kraken is hosting the St. Louis Blues. Shane Wright made the opening night roster centering the third line for Seattle. The 2022 4th overall pick will try to prove he can make a significant impact at the NHL level after scoring 47 points in 55 games in the AHL last year.

At 5 pm, the Boston Bruins are in Florida to face the Panthers. The defending Stanley Cup Champion will be raising their 2024 Cup banner in the rafters of the Amerant Bank Arena before the game. Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman is available to start in net after finishing the drama surrounding his contract negotiations. He signed an 8-year $66 million contract on Sunday.

At 8 pm, the Utah Hockey Club is playing their first game ever at home against the Chicago Blackhawks. Lawson Crouse was named associate Captain today after Clayton Keller was named captain of the team earlier this month. “Lawson is a tremendous person and player and has been a great leader for this group for many years… We’re extremely fortunate to have a strong leadership group with high-character people in our dressing room,” said Utah’s GM Bill Armstrong after the announcement. The excitement is high in the Utah organization. They are hosting the 19 years old sensation Connor Bedard who will start his second pro season.

The Calgary Flames are opening their season on Wednesday October 9th in Vancouver against the Canucks. The first home game will be Saturday October 12th hosting Matvei Michkov and the Philadelphia Flyers.
