The Alberta government is now supporting a program dedicated to helping local art, history and social programs within the province. The government has provided 11.7 million dollars to two-hundred and twenty-six non-profits.
The initiative, known as the Community Facility Enhancement Program and Community Initiatives Program, supports hundreds of non-profits across Alberta each year. The grants will support a huge variety of exhibits, festivals and art centres around the province.
Tanya Fir, Minister of Arts, Culture, and Status of Women, stated, “We are strengthening our vital non-profit sector that improves community spaces and spirit to make sure Alberta continues to be the best province to live, work, and raise a family. Alberta’s government is proud to support these projects that have a real impact on the daily life of Albertans.”
The Calgary Humane Society and the Western Mechatronics Association are each receiving $50,000 from the grants, funding for the Calgary Humane Society will assist with technology upgrades and animal welfare initiatives. The Western Mechatronics Association will use its grant to host Mecha Mayhem 2025, which will take place from February 7th to 9th in Calgary.
