With the winter semester wrapping up, SAIT students are being asked to share their thoughts on campus housing. SAITSA has launched a housing survey to get feedback on things like rent costs, living conditions, and overall affordability to help improve student life in the future.
One major complaint is the gym. Many students feel the facility is too small for the number of people using it.
“They need a bigger gym,” one student said. “It’s frustrating that we have to pay for it through tuition, and it’s just this tiny space. It’s not worth it.”
Another student agreed, saying, “The gym just isn’t great. I know they’re building a new one, but what we have now really isn’t cutting it.”
Beyond amenities, the cost of living on campus is a big concern. Some students feel they’re paying too much for what they’re getting.
“The price isn’t horrible, but depending on the room, you could live somewhere else for the same cost and get way more,” one student explained. “Lower floors are a bit cheaper, but the dorm rules are kind of weird, which makes it less appealing.”
That said, some students do enjoy the convenience of living on campus.
“It’s nice not having to worry about catching a bus or train to get to class,” one student shared. “And there are some good perks, like the gym and a cardio room in Begin Tower that I use a lot.”
With opinions split, SAITSA is hoping more students will take the survey to help shape future housing improvements. If you live on campus, now’s your chance to have your say!
