A fatal crash late Tuesday on Stoney Trail N.W. near Nose Hill Drive has resulted in a lengthy road closure as Calgary police investigate.
The collision, which occurred around 11:50 p.m., involved a dark-colored Dodge Ram pickup truck and a white sedan.
The woman driving the sedan, believed to be in her 50s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital but later died.
The pickup truck sustained damage on its front driver’s side, while the sedan suffered significant damage.
Calgary Police Service (CPS) Traffic Unit Sgt. Sean Sherman revealed that investigators discovered a stabilizer for a semi-truck trailer at the scene.
Authorities are now looking for a trailer missing this stabilizer, Sean Sherman says, “We’re not sure of its significance, but we need to find the trailer,”.
The pickup truck is thought to have collided with the sedan after the initial crash. CPS is speaking with the pickup truck driver and investigating further.
Traffic on Stoney Trail has been diverted onto the Nose Hill Drive offramp, with no clear timeline for the road’s reopening.
Police are asking anyone with information about a missing semi-truck trailer to call CPS at
