The SAIT Men’s Hockey team and ACAC are just over the halfway point in it’s season and SAIT is looking to make a push for playoff positioning in the second half of the season. However, a new team will be headed to Alberta and southern Saskatchewan to play the ACAC competition. The Korea University Men’s Hockey Team will be facing off in six total matchups against ACAC opponents including SAIT in a groundbreaking exhibition hockey tour taking place from January 12-31.
The Korea University ‘Tigers’ from Seoul during it’s visit to Canada will showcase Canadian college talent as well as their own talent being a part of one of Asia’s hottest hockey markets. The tour is to provide The Korean Men’s team an opportunity to play as their membership application to join the ACAC is still under review. However, if approved, Korea University could be seen as a part of the ACAC and playing as early as next year in the 2024-25 season. The KU Men’s Hockey Program is proposing to relocate to Alberta for six months annually during the season to compete as a regular team in the league.
The final decision on the application will be determined in May.
