Bear traps have been set up in Fish Creek Provincial Park after a black bear was spotted in the area.

Alberta Fish and Wildlife says the trap was set on October 26 after the bear was spotted rummaging through compost & garbage bins and feeding on fruit trees along Woodacres Drive SW.

The trap was removed on Halloween after there were no further sightings of the bear, but was reset on November 4 after the bear was spotted once again.

“The trap will remain in place until the bear is captured or reports of sightings cease,” Fish and Wildlife said in a statement to CTV News.

Anyone who encounters the black bear or other dangerous wildlife are encouraged to report it online on Alberta.ca, or by calling 1-800-642-3800.
